Wine-Specific Conditions

Legal Requirements

You must be 21 years of age or older, to order or receive alcoholic beverages from Distant Cellars. Receipt of shipments containing alcoholic beverages requires the signature of a sober adult (a person 21 years of age or older who is not intoxicated). Wines purchased from Distant Cellars are not for resale and are for personal consumption only.

Credit Card Charges

Orders are by credit card only. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Minimum Purchase

No minimum purchase is required.

States Authorized for Shipment

Distant Cellars does not ship directly to consumers.  Instead, the shipping charge collected at the time of your order is passed along to our third party shipper, Amador Wine Shipping, and they will ship your wine on your behalf.  By placing an order, you authorize Amador Wine Shipping to accept possession of your wine to ship to you on your behalf.  Due to the ever-changing nature of wine shipping laws, we may be able to ship wines, directly or indirectly, to all states except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Utah or Wisconsin.

Shipping Costs

United Parcel Service of America (UPS) is Amador Wine Shipping's carrier of choice (common carrier). Standard shipping is provided by UPS at a flat rate. If you would prefer to use a different carrier or shipping class, please contact the winery prior to making a purchase to discuss the available options. If an alternate shipper or class is selected, the customer pays all shipping charges, regardless of his or her wine club membership or purchase amount.

Wine is a Delicate Commodity

Wine is a perishable commodity. Wine does not like extremes of temperature: hot humid summer and cold winter weather may adversely affect the condition of your wine during shipment. Distant Cellars will take all available precautions such as holding shipments due to weather but is not responsible for, and will not replace wine that is damaged by extreme weather conditions during shipment. When your wine order is picked up by the common carrier for delivery, responsibility for the wine becomes the responsibility of the purchaser.  To reduce the risk of wine sitting in the common carrier's warehouse facilities over a weekend, Distant Cellars only processes wine shipments on Monday and Tuesday of each week.  If alternate delivery options are desired, please contact the winery to discuss available options understanding that the customer pays all shipping charges, regardless of his or her wine club membership or purchase amount.
